Purchase College, SUNY, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2020 in Modern American History (post 1900), with a required sub-specialization in African American history. Teaching responsibilities are five courses per year plus supervision of student work in the form of the Senior Project, a college-wide requirement and signature feature of the Purchase curriculum. Responsibilities also include scholarship in one's field, advising students, and service to the history department and the College.

Successful candidates must specialize in Modern American History (post 1900), with a required sub-specialization in African American history. Candidates must be on track to complete a PhD by August 31, 2020. Teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate will contribute to our Global Black Studies minor and serve an ethnically and racially diverse student body.
