Ball State University’s Department of History is accepting applications for a full time one-year contract faculty position in public history available August 2019.

In addition to a cover letter addressed to Dr. Abel Alves and curriculum vitae, please upload in the “Other” section a writing sample and if available, teaching evaluations. The references that you list on your application will be contacted to submit confidential letters of reference.
Although the option to upload copies of transcripts is available in the application, an official, original transcript showing the highest related degree earned is required at time of hire (even if obtained at Ball State University). Additionally, a degree verification will be ordered at time of hire. Review of applications will begin immediately and will be accepted through June 3, 2019.

Minimum qualifications: Education: ABD in history from an accredited college or university, with specialization in public history. Teaching: Ability to teach courses in public history and the “West in the World” survey which teaches western civilizations in the context of continuous global interaction.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications: Education: Ph.D. in history from an accredited college or university, with specialization in public history. Teaching: Interest in using new digital approaches that help distill historical meaning from texts and artifacts, and in new modes of presenting these in electronic formats.
